Gerry Rooney
As an experienced Mediator Gerry is President of the Mediators Institute of Ireland. Gerry's mediation, facilitation and investigation services are recommended by Counsel, Law Firms, Accountants, HR Practitioners and Trade Unions. Gerry is an expert in the design and implementation of training and strategic and tactical HR solutions for an extensive range of clients. His expertise includes leadership and management development, specializing in Conflict Management, and Equality and Diversity in the workplace. His career began in the Irish Naval Service (NS) where he served 18 years as an Executive Branch Officer and was responsible for a range of operational (seagoing) and HR roles including Recruitment, Training and Development and Strategic HR. Gerry was an officer onboard LE Eithne, the first Irish Naval Vessel to visit the United States in 1986 to participate in an international naval review in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Statute of Liberty. After retiring from the Navy Gerry spent three years as a HR Executive with the Local Government Management Services Board where he provided HR and industrial relations advice to Ireland’s local government sector. In 2000 Gerry set up and ran Polaris HR Ltd, a very successful HR consultancy until 2011, when he merged Polaris HR with Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon. Gerry is now growing a HR practice as Consulting Director with Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon in its Dublin office. ACHIEVEMENTS AND MEMBERSHIPS
